What the MCP server does

The Speak AI MCP server connects your media library to AI assistants like Claude, ChatGPT, and Cursor. Once connected, your assistant can search your media, read transcripts, run AI analysis, manage folders and recorders, schedule the Meeting Assistant, and more. Your recordings stay in your Speak AI workspace. They are not copied or stored by Anthropic or OpenAI.

The connection URL

Paste this URL into your AI tool's connector or MCP settings:

Two ways to authenticate

  • One-click OAuth (recommended): paste the URL above into your assistant's connector settings and approve access in your browser. No terminal and no install.

  • API key: generate a key at app.speakai.co/developers/apikeys and add it as an Authorization header in the format Bearer your-key. Use this when your assistant does not support OAuth.

Supported assistants

The MCP server works with Claude.ai, Claude Desktop, Claude Code, ChatGPT, Cursor, VS Code, Windsurf, and Zed. For step-by-step setup in a specific tool, see the dedicated guides: Getting Started with Claude, Getting Started with ChatGPT, and Getting Started with Cursor, VS Code & Windsurf.

What your assistant can do

The server currently provides over 100 tools spanning your whole Speak AI workspace, including:

  • Media library: upload, transcribe, search, and manage your files

  • Ask AI and Magic Prompts: run analysis and custom prompts on any transcript

  • Folders and views, recorders and surveys

  • Clips and exports

  • Meeting bot scheduling

  • Automations, webhooks, fields, and text notes

When you authorize an assistant, it gets read and write access to your Speak AI workspace, so it can both pull information and make changes on your behalf.

Reconnecting

If your assistant stops seeing Speak AI's tools, the connection has usually expired or been revoked. To reconnect:

  1. If you used OAuth, open your assistant's connector settings and approve access again.

  2. If you used an API key, check that the key is still valid at app.speakai.co/developers/apikeys. If you regenerated it, update the key in your assistant's settings.

  3. Restart your assistant so it reloads the connection.
