Understanding your usage: transcription hours, AI Chat characters, and more

Transcription hours

Your plan includes a monthly allowance of transcription hours (e.g., 25 hours on Individual, 50 hours on Team).

Important: Transcription hours measure the length of the audio/video you process, not the time you spend in the app. A 30-minute recording uses 30 minutes of your transcription allowance, regardless of how long you spend reviewing it.

  • You can spend unlimited time in the app reviewing transcripts, running AI Chat, and exporting

  • Only uploading and transcribing new media files uses your hours

  • Re-transcribing a file uses hours again (it runs the full pipeline)

AI Chat characters

AI Chat usage is measured in characters. Your plan includes a monthly character allowance (e.g., 10M on Individual, 25M on Team).

Characters are counted as:

  • Input: The transcript text sent to the AI for analysis (including speaker names and timestamps)

  • Output: The response generated by the AI

  • Total = input + output characters

If a prompt fails to generate output, no characters are counted.

Translation characters

Translation is measured separately by character count (e.g., 100K on Individual, 500K on Team). One translation of a transcript uses the character count of the source text.

Text notes

Your plan includes a monthly text note limit (e.g., 500 on Individual, 10K on Team). Each text note you create counts toward this limit.

Storage

File upload size limits vary by plan:

  • Individual: 2 GB per file

  • Team: 5 GB per file

  • Enterprise: Custom limits

Checking your usage

View your current usage and remaining allowances in your Profile Overview on the dashboard. Usage resets at the start of each billing cycle.

What happens when you hit a limit?

If you exceed your transcription hours, you can continue uploading. Additional usage is available on a pay-as-you-go basis. Your account will not be blocked.
