Keyboard Shortcuts for Transcript Editing

Overview

Speak AI includes a full transcript editor with keyboard shortcuts to speed up your editing workflow. These work when you're viewing and editing a transcript in the web app.

Playback controls

  • Space or Tab - Play/pause audio

  • Left arrow - Skip back 5 seconds

  • Right arrow - Skip forward 5 seconds

  • Shift + Left arrow - Skip back 30 seconds

  • Shift + Right arrow - Skip forward 30 seconds

Transcript navigation

  • Click any line - Jump to that point in the audio

  • Cmd/Ctrl + F - Find text in transcript

  • Cmd/Ctrl + K - Open Spotlight Search

Editing

  • Click on text - Enter edit mode for that section

  • Enter - Confirm speaker name changes

  • Cmd/Ctrl + Z - Undo last edit

  • Cmd/Ctrl + Shift + Z - Redo

Tips for efficient editing

  • Play and edit simultaneously: Listen to the audio while reading and correcting the transcript. Use Tab to pause when you spot an error.

  • Use Find and Replace: For recurring errors (like a consistently misspelled name), use Cmd/Ctrl+F to find and replace all instances at once.

  • Use AI Chat: For bulk edits, try AI Chat commands like "Replace 'gonna' with 'going to'" or "Change Speaker 1 to John Smith".

  • Name speakers first: Before doing other edits, rename all speakers. This makes the transcript much easier to follow.

You can view all available shortcuts by clicking the Shortcuts help icon in the transcript editor.
